The Pit Bulls’ Lament

Deep in their hearts and in their souls, the Pit Bulls tearfully lament,
“The ugliness that resides within humanity,
saddens our hearts.
Loving, sweet Pit Bull babies, abused,
then set apart.
Few understand or even want to know
how loyal we are, how deep our feelings go.
That humans could close their hearts to our beauty, within,
We have to believe, in God’s eyes,
is a terrible sin.” ~The Pit Bulls

{My inspiration to write this poem originated from a photo of one of the Pit Bulls “hung by Michael Vick because the dog refused to fight” that was posted on my Facebook Wall. I’ve elected not to publish the photo due to it’s deeply disturbing nature.}

This is just one snippet of the immeasurable harm and damage to the Pit Bulls who are used in dog fighting rings. Once the bad people who keep their dog fighting rings under-the-radar are finished with the dogs that survived and/or refused to fight, they abandon the dogs. These abandoned dogs must fend for themselves. Most of the dogs starve and die in the wilderness or on city streets. The exceptions are dogs like the one in this snippet rescued by Pit Bull Rescue Shelters who need donations and who need us all to spread the truth to others.
